Social Studies

Central Berkshire follows the Massachusetts History and Social Studies Curriculum Frameworks. Our teachers use a variety of primary and secondary resources to teach this integrated curriculum. The primary purpose of the Social Studies curriculum is to foster curiosity and help to create life-long learners who make informed decisions as they actively engage as citizens in their local, national and global communities.

The unit of study will focus on:

  • Understanding the major events and trends in these domains that have shaped the modern world
  • Connecting the past with the present and gain insights
  • Using a wide variety of technologies and emphasizing the importance of gathering, analyzing and evaluating evidence and information
  • Discovering their own authentic voice by learning to think independently, working collaboratively, and communicating their ideas effectively.
