Nessacus Families,

It is hard to believe that the year is coming quickly to a close!  As we wrap up the year I would like to thank all of you for the support you have given us and your children as we navigate the middle school years.  We have several end of year activities going on as well as planning for the upcoming year!

I would like to thank the following staff for their years of service at Nessacus as they are retiring at the end of this school year:  Peter O’Brien, School Adjustment Counselor; Dawn Frissell, 6th grade Social Studies and Lit Blast teacher; Martha Bodine, 6th Science and writing teacher; and MaryJo Connors, School Nurse.  We also have staff who will be transferred to other schools in the district and I would like to wish them well as they begin a new chapter in their career: Rocky Daley, 8th grade Social Studies teacher will be going to Wahconah; Lynn Wesley, Math blast teacher will be going to Wahconah; Liz Jackson, Special Education teacher, will be going to Becket Washington and Kittredge.  We are currently interviewing for open positions and I will have an update of teacher assignments and new staff by the end of June.

8TH GRADE DANCE

The PTO will hold the 8th grade dance the evening of Thursday June 13, from 7-9 pm. This dance is for 8th graders only to celebrate their step up to high school!  There is no charge for students attending and we will have a photo booth set up as well!

We are looking for chaperones for this event, concession donations and volunteers to help us decorate (we usually meet about 4pm). Anyone interested in helping in any way can contact the PTO at nrmspto@gmail.com (chaperones must have a current CORI/SORI on file with the school)

BOOK FAIR

This week there will be a book fair in the library.  Students will be able to go to the book fair during ELA class to purchase books.  The online book fair will be available until June 4th. https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/nessacusmiddleschool1

SPIRIT PROGRAM FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

On June 4th adults volunteers will be trained using the SPIRIT program through the Department of Justice.  We will be using this program next year in the school to problem solve social issues.
